Some documents such as degrees need certification by the notary as true copies of the original. It is not possible to certify marriage, birth or death certificates in this way as they are already certified copies. You need to apply for a new certificate.

In other cases, it will be necessary for the notary to prepare a separate certificate annexing the document which needs to be certified.

Whether any of the above documents requires an Apostille depends on the nature of the document and the jurisdiction where they are to be used.
